About the Role
The Classroom Coordinator oversees students in the respective classroom for K - 2nd, 3rd - 5th, and 6th - 8th grades. Must be available from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday for the After-School Program, plus additional hours as scheduled, including special event attendance and Summer Programs. The Classroom Coordinator is responsible for showing God’s love to each student by developing honest, meaningful relationships with them and providing a stable and calm environment. The teacher is also responsible for guiding and directing volunteer tutors assisting in the classroom.
Requirements
4-Year Degree, preferably in Education
Valid driver’s license and clean driving history
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Professional demeanor
Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office, e-mail, G-suite)
Ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with FERPA regulations
General understanding of core K-5 subject matter
Ability to connect effectively with students
Aptitude for technology and digital learning tools, with the ability to incorporate technology into educational activities
Organization and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and activities efficiently
Experience leading Bible study sessions and integrating faith-based principles into programming
Spanish language skills a plus
Demonstrated ability to display Christ-like character and uphold the values and mission of the Huntsville Learning Center
Availability to be present at the Learning Center from 1:00 PM through dismissal, Monday through Thursday.
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate Bible lessons and teachers for daily Bible study
Plan and find resources for student activities, included
Check student folders daily for homework assignments and keep up with communication between school and home
Ensure each student completes homework or another assignment during homework time
Maintain open communication with volunteers and support staff, making sure they can effectively fuflill their HLC assignments
Establish and maintain student folders of applications, progress reports, report cards, and other pertinent data
Meet and stay in contact with students’ teachers
Keep open communication with parents, especially in matters that involve student health, safety, or any policy concerns
Conduct parent conferences as needed
Visit students at school for lunch as needed
Attend IEP (Individual Education Plan) meetings for students as needed
Take daily attendance and report student incidents in Brightwheel application
Plan and facilitate summer camp for the assigned age group
Coordinate with other staff and volunteers to ensure the smooth operation of the camp
Manage the camp schedule, including daily activities, special events, and field trips
Evaluate the camp program and gather feedback for future improvements
Aid in the student-assessment process by coordinating with the Academic Development Coordinator (ADC), volunteers, and other support staff
Work with ADC, volunteers, and support staff to provide academic and behavioral intervention services to students
Help with reporting for grants and other organizational documentation
Attend weekly Staff Meetings and any other meetings or events related to HLC
Other duties as assigned and agreed upon by the coordinator and administration
